Careers at OPA

Frequently asked questions

Questions candidates ask before getting started.

Do I need prior experience or certification to apply?

You need at least two years of caregiving experience. Certification is not required to apply. If you do not hold one, OPA provides the required training during onboarding. Georgia requires part of that training to be completed before your first client visit. All OPA credentialing must be complete within 30 days of your start date for you to continue working shifts.

What background checks are required?

You must pass a criminal background check and a Georgia fingerprint check through the Georgia Criminal History Check System. That fingerprint check includes an FBI records search. OPA will send you instructions for scheduling your fingerprint appointment.

How far will I have to travel for clients?

Travel varies by client and assignment.

How quickly can I start working after my interview?

Your start date depends on how quickly your background checks clear and whether you already hold a caregiving certification or need training before your first client visit. Some caregivers have started as soon as the day after their interview. Others have taken up to two weeks.

When do I get paid after working?

Payroll runs weekly, one week in arrears. Each workweek closes Saturday night, and you are paid for that week on Friday of the following week. If you start on a Wednesday, you will not be paid that Friday. Your pay for Wednesday through Saturday arrives the following Friday, nine days after your first shift. After your first payroll is complete, you can enroll in ZayZoon to access part of your verified shift pay before payday. The amount you take is deducted from your next paycheck, and ZayZoon may charge a fee depending on how you choose to receive the money.

What is the rate of the assignment?

OPA sets pay through a rate card. The rate for each assignment is fixed in the rate card and in the scheduling system, and it is not negotiated individually. OPA frequently offers urgent-need bonuses on shifts that must be filled quickly.

When does the workweek start?

The workweek starts Sunday at 12:00 a.m. and ends Saturday at 11:59 p.m.

The kind of team we are building

This is a place for people who want their work to count.

OPA Home Care is locally owned and based in Roswell. Our W-2 employees support clients across North Georgia, and the work calls for more than a kind intention. It calls for good judgment, discipline, and respect for the people who trust us in their homes.

We expect each person to contribute to the standard. In return, you will have a team that communicates directly, stays involved, invests in training, and recognizes people who take ownership.

We welcome applicants with caregiving backgrounds, including PCA, HHA, CNA, and other direct-care experience, along with people experienced in case management or VA social work.

You may be a strong fit if you

  • Take pride in arriving prepared and doing what you said you would do
  • Speak up early when a client need, schedule, or handoff needs attention
  • Welcome feedback and want to keep developing your skills
  • Respect the work of caregivers, coordinators, nurses, and every teammate

What you can expect from OPA

Clear expectations, structured training, accessible leadership, and a workplace where responsibility is shared.
